How to correctly update Pilot
To make sure the update process is done properly, please follow this guideline. Before proceding, take note of the following:
Before updating, make sure you have a recent backup of your SQL database and a configuration file export.
- First stop the Pilot Server and exit the Pilot Dashboard.
- Use the right mouse button on the Pilot system tray icon and click exit
- Uninstall Pilot through the Control Panel applet.
DO NOT manually delete the Pilot or AFI folder in C:\Program files!!!!
- Check the Pilot or AFI folder in C:\Program files for uncleared files. Delete all files in that folder, but DO NOT DELETE: 'license.xml'!!!
- Now you can perform a new installation (Choose to install for everyone if you want all accounts on the PC to be able to use Griffid)
- When the installation is complete, open the Pilot Dashboard from the Start>All programs>AFI menu
Do not start the service yet!
- Click the 'Setup' button.
- You'll get a window asking you if you'd like to modify the license
Click 'No'
- You'll get a window asking you if you'd like to modify the database
Click 'Yes'
- You'll get a window telling you that setup might take a while.
Click 'Ok'
- A new window will open. Click the Step 2 tab
Choose to Use the current database.
Pilot is now updated using your previous database
- Click the 'Start' button to start the service
NOTE: From version 2.7 you can not use a database from an older version if there are Axis devices previously configured. It's necessary to use a clean database and use the import configuration file functionality to rebuild your database. This is due to some important changes made in the Axis driver. We are sorry for this inconvenience.
